Jump-Start M.Ed. in Educational Leadership

Get a head start on the 36-hour Master of Education in Educational Leadership by enrolling in Ashland University’s Summer Institute. With an updated curriculum aligned to the Ohio Principal standards and the Ohio Educational Leadership standard, this program prepares teachers for a 21st-century career in educational administration by focusing on critical areas of school climate, professional ethics, school safety, and more.

Students will complete 8 hours of coursework during the summer semester focusing on:

  • Critical concepts in fiscal and human resource management
  • Theories of instructional leadership
  • Issues impacting student achievement
  • Professional development
  • Political dimensions of educational leadership

After the Jump Start

Students can complete the remaining 28 credits at their own pace, with the majority of required coursework split into convenient one-hour modules. Full-time students typically complete the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership within 16-20 months after the jump-start program. The major professional coursework required for this M.Ed. satisfies all 21 hours of prerequisites for the Administrative Licensure program ensuring a smooth transition to the post-master’s Building Principal or Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development licensure track.
